I have a 4 cup bodum tea press....how many teaspoons or tablespoons of loose black tea do I put in for a stong pot? How about for herbal and green teas? Thank you!
*strong* pot...forgive the typo
The rule of thumb is 1 tsp per cup of water, so 4 tsp per pot. If you want it stronger you can experiment with that, maybe 6-8 tsp per pot. The same usually goes for greens and herbals, but with greens its recommended that the water isn't boiling...

i would drain out the tea, so i probably wouldnt be eating...
In a pinch, sure, but it's not optimal. It's harder to filter out tea from teabags because it is almost powder.
Loose tea purchased from a coop is higher quality and generally less expensive. That's what I do when I don't want to use

Understanding the Essentials of High Quality bLoose/b Leaf bTea/b
Source of the Tea
The first element determining if you end up with the worst or the best green tea or other type of tea preferred. As mentioned, the four primary types of tea, loose green tea, loose black tea, loose white tea, and loose white tea all come from the Camellia plant. However, various factors that start from the time the plant is put in the ground to the time it is brewed would decide the degree of quality you enjoy.
For the highest quality loose leaf tea, the leaves are carefully chosen and then taken through a process slowly, which involves the leaves being handled delicately by hand. You need to look at exotic tea much like fine wine. The way it is grown, harvested, and processed to bring it to the final product state determines the level of quality for flavor, aroma, and texture. For the highest quality loose leaf tea possible, the plant would need the best growing conditions that include soil, climate, altitude, weather, and even the season in which the leaves are plucked.
